MCP Server Documentation

Triad Astro exposes the same tri-system astrology engine used by our REST API as a remote Model Context Protocol server, so AI assistants can calculate birth charts and geocode locations directly.

Connecting

Server URL (Streamable HTTP transport):

https://api.triadastro.com/api/v1/mcp

No API key, OAuth, or account is required — the endpoint is open and read-only. It is protected only by per-IP rate limiting.

• Claude.ai: Settings → Connectors → Add custom connector, then paste the URL above.
• Claude Desktop / stdio-only clients: use the mcp-remote bridge, pointed at the URL above.
• Local development: run npm run mcp from the project to start a local stdio server using the same tool logic.

Tools

calculate_charts

• Calculates Western (Tropical), Vedic (Sidereal), and Chinese (BaZi) birth charts.
• Parameters: date (required, YYYY-MM-DD), time, location or lat/lng/timezone, gender, summary.

geocode_location

• Looks up a location by name and returns coordinates and IANA timezone.
• Parameters: query (required, min 2 characters).

Authentication & Rate Limits

The MCP endpoint does not require authentication. Requests are limited per IP address; if you are rate limited, wait a minute before retrying.
